About Me and My Art

I was suffering from a case of writer's block in 1994. I found a plastic
35mm camera for sale in a thrift store for a dollar. I bought it and
started taking pictures. At first i was just using them for photo
collage work (this was before Photoshop was such a big thing) but after a
while I started framing some prints. I hung a bunch in the cafe where I
worked in Austin, Texas and someone bought a print. That was pretty
cool. Pretty soon I owned way too many cameras and had a darkroom in the
spare bedroom of my house.
A lot of water has gone under the bridge
since then. I still like using old film cameras. I do 98% of my art
using film. I am thinking about using digital printing as a way to
deliver prints. I am also dabbling in Solarplate photogravure - using
digital scans of my film to create the positive transparencies used in
the process. I have yet to release any of this work. Not quite happy
with it yet but it shows great potential for creativity.

I will be posting here from time to time about my art. I will often be discussing particular pieces. I will fill you in on where and when it was shot, what I was thinking - maybe some of the technical details. I don't like to dwell on those too much. I am a very technical photographer, but when it comes to art I tend to operate on auto-pilot.

I would like to invite you to browse my galleries. I will have
prints for sale in the online store in this site. You can by Giclee' Prints from ImageKind or Gallery prints direct from me.. I would love to hear your comments
on my work. Feel free to contact me.
